Globalization:
I would say Cambodia is on the low end of the 3.0 level. Cambodia has had a great boost in economy growth and when there is a boost in economy there will be an accompanying growth in technology. The people in Cambodia, especially the younger generation, have started to learn and grow through the use of social media and have taken advantage of the learning opportunities with their smart phones. The increased use of the internet has allowed them to communicate with others internationally. Though internet use is increasing, the government still has a great hold on what can be viewed. http://www.thecambodiaherald.com/opinion/the-technology-revolution-in-cambodia-743 https://futurechallenges.org/local/the-effects-of-globalization-on-cambodia/ |
HDI:
Cambodia’s HDI index score is currently at a .584 and that score is continuing to climb. HDI stands for Human Development Index. The Human Development Index is a compilation of statistics about a country’s achievements in human development, economic growth, longevity, and standard of living. Cambodia has a 47.0 birth rate among women ages 15-19. This is births per 1,000 women. Their adult literacy rate is at 73.9% which puts them at a medium human development. http://hdr.undp.org/en/content/human-development-index-hdi Cambodia is doing okay according to their HDI. According to the HDI of all of the countries, Cambodia is about right in the middle. They are getting better and slowly moving up the “ladder” of human development though. |
